Family Life Education and Methodology

An understanding of the general philosophy and broad principles of family life education in conjunction with the ability to plan, implement, and evaluate such educational programs.

This content area requires a Family Life Educator to be able to know the materials and principles and be able to implement them. As a Family Life Educator, it is important to understand what lifespan development entails, and I believe that it is to educate families on development across the lifespan. Lifespan development gives families’ opportunities to strengthen family bonds, and just enhance their over all family life.

Reflection

Family Life Education and Methodology is something I will be in continuously using throughout my career in helping services with my Family Studies major. So far I do not have a lot of experience with this content, but I don't see myself being able to avoid it in the future. As a family life educator I will need to know how to work with clients, coworkers, and possibly parents. Through my time in FSHS I have learned a lot about children and their development, and I can use this information to help inform others. It is really important for families to understand that they can always ask for help if they have questions about their children’s development, and if they are going through the right stages at the right times.
